Privacy policy
OAF and your data
Last updated 22 October 2026
In short: OAF collects nothing. Your files are opened and edited on your phone, there are no accounts, ads or analytics, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask for it.
What OAF collects
Nothing. OAF has no servers, accounts, analytics, advertising or crash reporting.
Your files
Files are opened, edited and saved on your phone. Recents, favourites and settings are kept in the app’s private storage and never leave the device.
When OAF goes online
- Playing a video or audio link another app sends to OAF: the stream comes straight from that address.
- Network drives you add (SMB, SFTP, FTP, WebDAV): OAF connects only to the servers you enter. Passwords are encrypted with a key held by Android’s keystore.
- Removing a picture’s background or copying text out of a picture uses Google’s ML Kit through Google Play services, which runs on the phone; the picture isn’t uploaded. Play services may fetch the tool once, the first time.
Sharing
Files only leave the phone when you share them, send them to a picker that asked for them, or upload them to your own server.
Permissions
What OAF asks Android for, and why:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| All files access | To browse, open, copy, move and delete files anywhere on the phone, as a file manager does. |
| Query installed apps | For the Apps screen, which lists installed apps so you can share or back them up. |
| Install and remove apps | To install APK files you open and uninstall apps you choose. Android asks you each time. |
| Internet | Only for video links and network drives you add, as above. |
| Notifications & media playback | So music keeps playing with the screen off, with controls in the notification. |
Children
OAF isn't aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here and in the app's source repository, where every change can be seen.
