Loadstone — Privacy Policy

Loadstone is a pin-and-follow-back navigation app: save a place, then let it guide you back. It is built to keep your data on your device. This policy explains what the app accesses and why.

What Loadstone accesses

• Location, while the app is open: to save a pin where you are and to point you back to a saved pin.
• Location while guiding or recording: if you turn on Screen off (guidance in a notification) or Record my way (saving the route you walk from a pin), Loadstone keeps using your location with the screen off or another app open, through a foreground service that shows a notification the whole time. It stops when you stop guiding or recording. Loadstone never asks for background location and never uses location at any other time.
• Camera: only when you take a photo for a pin, through your camera app.
• Microphone: only while you record a voice note for a pin.
• Notifications and vibration: for the guidance notification and the buzz when you arrive.

What Loadstone does not do

• No account or sign-in.
• No data is collected, transmitted to us, or shared with third parties. Loadstone has no internet access.
• No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Your data

Your pins, with their names, notes, photos, voice notes, recorded routes and elevation, are stored only in the app's private storage on your device.

Sharing, only when you choose to

• Share as words: a sentence of seven words encoding the pin's position and nothing else.
• QR code: a link with the pin's position, name and note, for someone to scan.
• Open in Maps: hands the pin's position and name to the maps app you pick.
• Export GPX or KML and Back up: files saved where you choose. A backup includes everything, photos and voice notes too.

Whatever you share goes through the app or place you pick, under its own privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

Data stays on your device until you delete a pin or uninstall the app, which removes all of it, including photos, voice notes and routes. Files you exported or backed up stay where you saved them.

Children

Loadstone is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
